We are created to reflect God's image to others.
Lesson Objective
Understanding how we are created to reflect God's image to others.
Let's sing the song "Who made you?"
Discussion time
Do you remember the answer to the question in the song? Who made you? (God made me.) Listen to the song again and let's find the Bible verse in the song. (Genesis:1:27)
Let's read Genesis 1:27 together.
“ He created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Genesis 1:27
Discussion time
God did something very special for us at creation, something He did not do for anything else He created. Listen to the Bible verse in our song, and tell me what it is. (God created us In His own image.)
Activity
Mirrors can help us understand what it means to be made in God’s image.
Lets look into a mirror, (make some funny faces).
Is the person in the mirror doing the same thing as you are? (Yes)
Why? (Because that’s me.)
Is that really you? (Yes)
Since that is you in there, try to pinch the image in the mirror.
Did you feel that? (no)
Since you did not feel it, then it can't really be you, can it? (no)
You see, the mirror only shows your likeness. It only shows your image.
Why do we use mirrors? (We use mirrors to reflect what we are like, to reflect our image.)
Genesis 1:27 tells us we are made to show or reflect God's image.
We use mirrors to reflect what we are like and God made us to reflect what He is like.
Just think how special man is to be made in God's image.
Did you know that you are that special?
Review
God created man in His own image. We were made to reflect God's image to others.
Let's pray together
Thank you for making us so special to reflect Your image.
Special note to parents
We think it would be a great idea to memorize Genesis 1:27 and sing "Who made you?" a lot. :)
